Pre-Mother’s Day Tarot Writing and Art Workshop: Make Your Card Early
April 24, 2025

Do we ever grow up? Do we ever stop wanting to love and be loved by our mothers? Hey Mom, Hey Look, Mom, guess what?!!! In this workshop, we use tarot cards to look at motherhood’s energy through writing and art, culminating in the making of a Mother’s Day card.

Offered through SDWI here in San Diego, in person, on Saturday May 3rd from 3:30-5:30 pm at Inspirations Gallery ($30/$36 Non-Members); register here for my Pre-Mother’s Day workshop.

We will celebrate our relationship to mothers and motherhood through writing and a collage project, with room to explore challenging connections as well and what we’ve learned from them, including looking at connections forged with chosen family as well as blood family. The simple tarot journaling process you will use will help you discover and uncover your connection to mothering energy and how it can best nurture you, and if you wish, personal tarot card art you can keep for yourself (your Inner Mother) or a card for your actual mother or person who mothered you.

Bring an open heart, paper and pencil, and some photos of the mother you are honoring (photos of you or your mother/s), and any images you feel express the gifts and lessons of that relationship. Please feel free to bring your own tarot decks/s though your instructor will provide a variety of tarot images. Instructor will provide each participant with a blank greeting card and envelope.

Remember you can point the arrow of this inquiry towards your own mother, or towards yourself in the role you play with your children or those you nurture.  All perspectives and experiences welcome; no prior writing or tarot experience necessary. Comes with a PDF for continuing your exploration on your own.

If you aren’t able to make it in May, I’m also offering a Pre-Father’s Day Tarot Writing & Art Workshop on June 7th, 10-12 noon at SDWI where you can go through the same process and make a Father’s Day card.

Watch the video below for more details about who should take this class, why we use tarot to connect to mother energy, what to expect from class structure, and what to bring. Thank you Donna Agins, for the interview!
